Round & Round
Man is born free but is everywhere in chains
(Jean Jacques Rousseau)
(Jean Jacques Rousseau)
Despite the current mass uprising in many
of the Arab countries and a world-wide cry for freedom and democracy
everywhere, the world is fast become a more unequal and a potentially dangerous
place to live in. This is a far cry from the optimistic expectations of the early
founders of the modern industrial societies at the turn of the 20th
century that promised a brave new world in which hunger, disease and ignorance
would no longer plague human race in the light of the advancement of science
and technology.
Today, the high levels of hunger, disease
and illiteracy in the world, despite the incredible advancement of science and technology,
remind us that the concept of progress is an illusory idea. We are not going
anywhere. We just go round and round.

The Jury is still out
We live in a confusing world. A world in which most of the ever -changing boundaries remain constantly blurred. A world in which the ideas of right and wrong have become subject of complex philosophical debates rather than instantly recognizable facts of life.
This level of complexity has evolved in response to human conditions on earth. It is an outcome of a continuous interplay and interaction between all the forces involved in shaping human societies in its diverse forms. A poor outcome? Perhaps. This outcome is often misnamed as 'progress', as though it has had an objective from the outset. Not so. We are the end product of an interactive chain of events, haphazardly formed in response to endless factors throught history.
We are not going anywhere unless we decide to do so.

Ground Zero
- Counterlines? What does it mean?
- It means reading the lines between the lines to complete the picture.
- What... ?
- Exactly.
